Writing Child Permanence Reports

Course Aim:
To offer participants the knowledge and skills to structure and prepare reports located in the appropriate contexts.
Course outcomes:
Participants will be offered the opportunity to understand:
- The meaning of ‘permanence’, the legal and policy requirements for reports and the process of writing them
- Anchoring assessments in the curious practitioner-researcher and the ability to think critically
- Report writing skills and the need to tell the child’s story
- Assessing and comparing placement options (research evidence and legal requirements to rule out options)
- Comprehend the context in which the report is written.
- Apply understanding of the impact of significant harm and trauma on childhood development and outcomes in later life.
- Clarify the structure of the report and the essential elements to writing a report.
