Effective working with vulnerable adults requires practitioners to recognise the critical role that emotion plays when making judgements and decisions often within challenging environments. Such work is emotionally demanding and therefore practitioners need to develop confidence, emotional resilience and adaptability to the demands of the role.
This one day course explores the meaning of emotional resilience and how practitioners can develop their own emotional literacy in order to increase resilience and be more effective in their practice.
Participants will be offered an opportunity to:
- Consider the meaning of emotional resilience
- Consider the challenge of working within an environment where uncertainty and anxiety are an integral part of their work
- Recognise the impact of anxiety on practice and consider how emotions can be used to enrich thinking and support safe practice
- Understand how to access the range of support mechanisms that can positively develop personal resilience and therefore enhance the quality of work with families
