Managing risk: the role of managers and supervisors
Target group
Managers & experienced supervisors of staff working regularly with children and young people.
Aim
Working to safeguard children from harm can never be risk free. This one day course aims to give those responsible for managing staff who work regularly with children an opportunity to reflect on their role and consider what research and Serious Case Reviews tell us about the factors that should inform supervision and management practice.
Outcomes
By the end of the day delegates will be able to:
- identify the components of safe effective child protection practice as a foundation for the management of risk
- work with staff to evaluate and analyse information and make decisions based on a understanding of possible outcomes for the child
- understand the way in which working to safeguard children can impact on staff and use this understanding to provide effective supervision and support
