Introduction to sexual abuse
Target group
Staff with a particular responsibility for safeguarding children.
Aim
This one day course aims to provide delegates with information to give
a greater understanding of what sexual abuse involves and the impact on
both the victim and their whole family.
Outcomes
By the end of the day delegates will be able to:
- Explain definitions of sexual abuse, in particular Working Together 2006
- Give an outline of the law that relates to sexual abuse
- Outline the indicators and impact of sexual abuse
- Explore and apply the intervention and action threshold
- Explain how to respond should a child or young person make a disclosure of sexual abuse
- Outline the Achieving Best Evidence Joint Investigation process
- Outline the behaviour patterns of perpetrators of sexual abuse
- Outline changes in safer working guidance
