A Consolidation of Safeguarding Practice for newly qualified social workers

Aim
The aim of this course is to give newly qualified social workers an opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and develop their skills in working in situations where there are child protection concerns.
Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the ways in which we may recognise that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm.
- Work within child protection procedures to protect children from harm and meet their needs.
- Work effectively and sensitively with families where child abuse is a concern in order to ensure that the child is kept safe.
- Prepare reports for, and contribute effectively to, child protection conferences and core groups.
- Understand the particular issues for black children and disabled children and work sensitively and effectively to ensure they receive an appropriate child protection service.
- Work effectively with the multi-agency networks to ensure appropriate information is shared and effective child protection plans are formulated.
- Ensure that child protection practice is underpinned by evidence informed practice.
