Safeguarding Awareness
Duration: Half day
Target group
Staff and their managers who may come into contact with vulnerable children and their families.
Aim
To provide participants with an awareness of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will have been given the opportunity to:
- Develop an awareness of the four categories of abuse, and the potential indicators of each
- Recognise the effects of personal and professional values and feelings on how we respond to incidents of abuse and neglect
- Consider the legal, national and local frameworks that in place to safeguard children and protect them from abuse
- Understand their role in the child protection process
