Safeguarding children - level 2
Target group
All those who work regularly with children and may be asked to contribute
to assessment s of need and/or child protection conferences and plans
Aim
The aim of this two day course is to give staff who work regularly with
children an opportunity to consider how children can be safeguarded from
significant harm through effective assessment and multi agency intervention
Outcomes
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Describe and work within the legal and procedural framework for protecting children from harm
- Respond appropriately within their role when they are concerned that a child may be suffering significant harm
- Contribute to child protection enquiries and other assessments
- Work sensitively and effectively with families whilst at the same time ensuring a focus on the safety and well being of the child
- Understand the factors which might affect communication within child protection networks and take these into account in their own work
- Contribute effectively to child protection conferences both orally and in writing
