Planning for Permanence
Duration and method:
The course consists of two whole day sessions and two half day sessions and will take an action learning approach. Participants will be asked to complete tasks between sessions
Target audience
Staff, managers and carers who work directly with children and particularly those responsible for planning for Looked After children and young people.
Aim
To consider how models of practice, current research and pertinent practice issues impact on the achievement of best permanency placements and outcomes for children and young people.
Outcomes
By the end of the training participants should be able to:
- understand the routes to permanent placement for all children and understand all options available
- have examined current research related to planning permanent homes for children and young people and be able to consider and link these to current best practice in Surrey
- Use the knowledge base to produce plans which contribute to positive outcomes for children and young people
- have increased their knowledge of essential good practice and considerations necessary to develop planning strategies that are rooted in child development, are child inclusive and responsive to the diverse needs of children.
