HIV Awareness - Infection Control
Duration: Half day
Target group
Suitable for all staff and volunteers.
Aim
- To enable staff working in the community to provide services to HIV infected or affected clients safely and sensitively.
- To enable staff to follow appropriate hygiene practices if and when necessary with all client groups including those infected with Hepatitis and MRSA.
Outcomes
By the end of the training participants will have:
- Basic knowledge of the HIV virus and how it is transmitted Good Hygiene practice information and infection control relating to HIV Hepatitis. and MRSA.
- An understanding of the impact of HIV treatment on the provision of social care
- Awareness of local HIV policy and the connection to Disability Discrimination Act, Equal Opportunities and Human rights guidelines.
- An awareness of local and national statutory and voluntary organisations offering services and support to HIV infected or affected people.
