Protecting disabled children from abuse
Target group
All staff those who work regularly with children and may be required to
work with other professionals to assess the needs of disabled children
and protect them from harm.
Aim
This one day course aims to explore good practice in the protection of
disabled children from abuse, and promote effective working together for
all those concerned for their safety and welfare .
Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- describe the particular circumstances which make disabled children vulnerable to abuse;
- assess the signs and indicators presented by disabled children who may have been subjected to abuse;
- explain the factors which may influence the threshold of intervention for disabled children; and
- communicate more confidently with disabled children about abuse.
