Communication and direct work with children
Duration: Two days - 9.30 - 4.30
Aim
Understand developmental needs of children, verbal and non-verbal exchange and develop a range of practical skills to work with children.
Outcomes
By the end of this course participants will have been given the opportunity to:
- experience how to communicate with children using a range of techniques - play, drama, story-telling, art
- how to use direct observation of children in order to understand and communicate with them
- Develop strategies to address professional concerns whilst focusing on child's needs
- Consider the development needs of children and young people
- Develop skills in communicating with children and young people
- Consider confidentiality and ethics
- Increase skills in observation and decision-making
