Target group
Chairs of LAC reviews.
Aim
This one day course aims to give those responsible for chairing LAC reviews
an opportunity to develop their practice in order to ensure that the child/young
person is appropriately involved and plans are scrutinised and developed
to meet the child/young person's needs.
Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the role of the chair and work within the legal/procedural requirements for reviews of Looked after Children
- Ensure that children and young people's views are appropriately represented and recorded
- Take particular account of the way in which children and young people can contribute when they have communication impairment or their first language is not English.
- Effectively scrutinise child care plans
- Describe & use the appropriate review documentation
- Define good practice in relation to facilitating meetings
- Prepare appropriately to confidently undertake the role of the chair
- Outline a number methods that can be used to address challenging or disruptive participants or conflict within a meeting
