Making analysis central to the core assessment process
Target group
Experienced Social Work staff with responsibility for completing core
assessments.
Aim
To give participants the knowledge and skills required to use the assessment
framework alongside other tools which can assist the analysis of information
and assessment of any potential risk to the child.
Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- understand the origin, underlying principles of core assessments and their relationship to the Assessment framework
- gather, assess and analyse information in relation to the core assessment and use the documentation appropriately
- know what assessment tools are available and how they may assist the assessment process
- understand the factors that might affect the analysis of information including attitudes, values and inter - agency relationships
- use evidenced based professional judgement when analysing information and reaching conclusions
- work with family strengths in order to ensure a safe environment for the child
- develop outcome focused plans
