Ensuring effective core assessments: the role of the first line manager

Target group
Managers of social work staff responsible for core assessments.

Aim
This one day course aims to give managers an opportunity to consider what they expect from staff conducting core assessments and how they how they can influence the quality of practice.

Outcomes
By the end of the day participants will be able to:

  • Be clear about their expectations of staff who are conducting core assessments
  • Identify a competent core assessment
  • Work with staff through supervision to ensure that the analyses of information
  • Is based on a rigorous evidence based practice
  • Review child care plans to ensure that they are focused on desired outcomes for the child
