Tony Morrison was one of the foremost contributors to the development of supervision practice in organisations working with vulnerable children and adults. Tragically Tony died in February 2010. This conference aims to provide the opportunity to reflect on Tony's work, as well as to consider how it can continue to influence the development of supervision practice and service provision at a critical time for those working in this field.

This conference will:

  • Consider the current state of supervision in statutory work with children, adults and their families
  • Consider how reflective relationship based supervision can contribute to effective practice
  • Explore fit for purpose models of supervision in this field
  • Consider current national opportunities to influence standards of supervision

The day will be of particular interest to all professionals who have a supervisory role, or responsibility for supervision practice in statutory work with adults or children; including supervisors from Children's Social Care, Health, Education, CAMHS, Probation, Adult Mental Health Services, Voluntary Agencies, Police Public Protection and Family Support Services. This day will also provide an opportunity for all those interested in, and inspired by Tony’s work, to contribute to a debate about how to maintain and develop his core values and messages in relation to supervision today.

The programme for the day will include:

  • Attachment based interviewing and supervision - Clark Baim
  • Building a safe, confident future - Moira Gibb
  • Relationship-based practice and its implications for supervision - David Howe
  • Critical thinking is a shared responsibility - Eileen Munro
  • Supervision: assessment and outcomes - Jane Wonnacott
  • Voices from practice - the impact of Tony’s work on staff and service users
  • Geese Theatre Company: Tony had a long association with the Geese Theatre Company. The Company has an international reputation for interactive drama with offenders, youth at risk, and those who work with them.
  • The day will be recorded by Graham Ogilvie, Corporate Artist.
