CWDC

CWDC are pleased to announce that training for supervisors of social workers taking part in its Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) and Early Professional Development (EPD) pilot programmes will take place from October 2009. The training is designed by Tony Morrison and Jane Wonnacott and delivered by a group of experienced trainers. This training is a key element of the CWDC pilot programmes and is offered to:

  • Those who are currently supervising newly qualified social workers or EPD social workers;
  • Supervisors who completed the NQSW supervision training earlier this year and who are now supervising workers taking part in the EPD (early professional development) programme.

The training is offered in two parts.

  1. The NQSW Supervisor Training. This three-day programme consists of a two-day block following approximately a month later by third day, with two tasks to be completed in between.

  2. The EPD Supervisor Training. This consists of two days separated by approximately a month with a single task to be completed between the days.

Therefore:
If you are an NQSW supervisor you will need to complete the three day programme.
If you are an EPD supervisor you will need to complete the three day and the two day programme

Please note - The two-day EPD supervisor training is only available for supervisors who have completed the NQSW three-day supervisor training.

The training offers a combination of a clear theoretical base, anchored in the teaching and development of supervisory skills, and the application of practical tools and frameworks. The core message of the training is that supervision is part of the intervention process with children and families.
