Val Elliot

Val Elliot has had long experience in the NHS as nurse, midwife and health visitor before becoming a Child Protection Specialist Practitioner and Designated Nurse for Child Protection. With a further background in applied social policy she has developed and delivered a range of award winning training on safeguarding children, family welfare and domestic violence for the public and private sector. Her particular interest lies in enabling organisations to work together to identify and support adults and children experiencing domestic abuse.

As a former member of the Local Safeguarding Board and a number of allied inter-agency professional groups she has been at the forefront of the development of inter-agency responses to the safeguarding of children, including conducting Internal Management Reviews, chairing Serious Case Reviews, completing Overview Reports, making recommendations and monitoring agencies' responses.
