Richard Swann

Richard SwannRichard Swann is currently an independent social care consultant and trainer, and In-trac associate. He has worked in the social care field for the past 18 years as a practitioner, manager and trainer. He has specialised in investigative, assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people at risk of harm.

Since 1999 Richard has developed a specialist interest in the provision of assessment and treatment services for children and young people who harm sexually. He offers independent expert assessments for civil and criminal proceedings; team-based consultation and supervision; supervision training and delivering assessment and intervention skills training in the field of child sexual abuse.

Between February 2006 and February 2007 Richard was appointed Senior Clinical Therapist at the Lucy Faithfull Foundation - an independent child protection agency that specialises in the assessment and treatment of adult and adolescent sexual offenders and their families.

Undertakes inspection visits to local authority children's homes and special residential schools under Regulation 33, Children's Homes Regulation 1991.

Richard is currently an Associate Trainer for the AIM Project, Manchester - a national charity which delivers training regarding young people who sexually harm to agencies across the UK and Ireland. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Surrey MSc Forensic Psychology Dept and the Brighton University's Social Work Dept.
